Do you enjoy stories that make you think? Are you curious about characters, perspectives and the deeper meaning behind words? Then English Literature might be the right choice for you.
In this elective course, we focus on fictional texts and explore literature beyond the regular English curriculum. Students read short stories and at least one novel, work with poetry, graphic novels or films, and learn how to analyse narrative techniques, language and themes. At the same time, they develop their own creative voice by writing short stories or alternative scenes.
The course places a strong emphasis on literary and aesthetic competence, helping students understand how texts are constructed and how meaning is created. It also prepares them for the analytical writing tasks required in upper secondary school — especially for those considering English as a Leistungskurs.
English Literature is ideal for students who enjoy reading, thinking critically and expressing their ideas in writing. It is challenging, but highly rewarding — and a great opportunity to explore the power of language and storytelling in greater depth.
